BIBLE CLUBS

Word of Life Bible Clubs constitute a dynamic ministry in partnership with the local church and schools. The purpose is to multiply disciplers through the training of leaders who invest their lives in other lives (2tim 2:2) motivating them in evangelization and effective discipleship. The objective is to develop Christian habits in both the leaders and the young people that will produce principles in life like quiet time, scripture memorization, and commitment to their local church, evangelism and discipleship as well as accountability through small groups. The participating churches have exclusive access to teaching materials, training, evangelistic events and help from Word of Life staff.

The bible club has been a tool in God’s hand to teach young people how to know and obey God’s will.

The goal is to have a club in every local church we work with.

Reaching Youth with the Gospel of Christ

At Word of Life Uganda we desire to impact the lives of children with the Word of God in  a fun, dynamic way. What we DON’T want is just another program. What we DO want is a program that  is based upon Biblical Principles because we believe that the Word of God makes a difference in the life of a child

Using Word of Life Children’s Ministries we want children to have the time of their lives engrafting the Word of God into their lives. How do we do this? How do we look to develop godly children?

We believe that you start with . . .

Biblical People

   Salvation of Children

Children and coaches growing in Christ

Children with a purpose in life that honors God

   Having fun while serving God

A Biblical Program

Know – Jesus Christ as Savior

Grow – Develop godly ideals for a dynamic Christian life

Show – Learn how to reach out to the lost with the Gospel.

A Biblical Purpose

To evangelize and disciple young people to a dynamic Christian life by mature leadership through the local church

Biblical Philosophies

Reaching youth whose needs constantly change with Biblical truth that never changes! The needs of youth change as they grow older and we need to adapt our program to the various age groups without compromising the Biblical Principles.

Biblical Principles

   Matthew 28:19-20

   2 Timothy 2:1-2

   Colossians 1:9-11; 2:6-7

How does this work?

The principles for Bible study are found in:

   2 Timothy 2:15

   Joshua 1:8

   2 Timothy 3:16-17

We seek to provide students with a vehicle for study, meditation and instruction from the Word of God.

And to train youth to accurately handle Scripture resulting in obedience and equipping them for service.

In six years students will cover every book in the Bible in the Bible Survey course. Each year they’ll get 16 Old Testament lessons and 14 New Testament lessons. Along with these there will be Character studies, lessons on the Life of Christ, Holiday and Theme nights and much more. They’ll receive a total of 48 lessons each year.

Bible study is essential in helping children apply the Word of God to every day live in order to live a victorious Christian life.

The principles for personal Bible reading and prayer are found in:

  • 1 Peter 2:2
  • Deuteronomy 6:6
  • 2 Peter 1:3
  • Jeremiah 20:9
  • Psalm 5:1 2
  • 2 Timothy 2:15
  • Philippians 3:10
  • Psalm 5:3
  • Matthew 22:29
  • Proverbs 8:7
  • Joshua 1:8
  • Psalm 1:1-2

We seek to use Quiet Time to help the student build an intimate relationship and fellowship with God through prayer and systemic reading of the Word of God with personal application. Each student will cover the major portions of the Word of God in six years developing a personal relationship with God through His Word and prayer.

The principles for Scripture memory are found in:

  • Psalm 119:11
  • Psalm 1:2
  • Joshua 1:8
  • Colossians 3:16

We believe that internalizing Scripture to connect to life’s needs and problems is essential for a  growing, obedient Christian. The systemic memorization of Scripture will help a believer to sin less, witness more and encourage others.

The verses that the children are asked to memorize come right out of the lessons. This will help to
reinforce what they are taught in the lesson. Each verse also has a question that goes with it to help tie the verse to everyday living.

All verses are on a verse card in their student book along with the books of the Bible that they are to memorize.

Challengers - grades 1 and 2 memorize 12 verses each year.

Conquerors - grades 3 and 4 memorize 18 verses each year.

Champions - grades 5 and 6 memorize 24 verses each year.

The purpose is not quantity but quality. Children are not only to learn the verse but also to remember it and how it applies to their lives.

The principles for Christian service are found in:

  • Matthew 28:19
  • 1 Peter 4:10
  • Hebrews 10:24
  • Acts 1:8

We seek to engraft the Word of God in the lives of the students to the point that it is demonstrated in compassion and care for others. Children participate in various avenues of serving God through individual and group evangelistic and service projects.

Each child is encourages to participate in Christian service activities. The Christian Service manual has 30 individual services and 24 group opportunities. A Challenger needs to do six a year; a Conqueror, nine and a Champion, twelve.

Students will develop a habit of serving God through others, sense the joy that comes in serving others, and feel the privilege of leading other children to Christ. An incentive program that is creative and fun rewards children for being faithful to Biblical principles.

Olympian Notebook – Every Olympian needs to their Olympian student notebook. The cover of this notebook (for grades 1-4) and the first page (for grades 5-6) will serve as a progress chart that will motivate the child and inform parents on the child’s progress.

Award Pins – Each year a child can earn three award pins – one for bronze level, silver level, and gold level. The pins alternate from a summer to winter theme each year. There are 18 pins in all to collect! Children can place these pins on their back pack or Bible cover or wear them on their clothes.

Certificates – What parent doesn’t enjoy putting something positive about their child on their refrigerator? Certificates are presented as a child accomplishes each level.

Award Box – This is a great way to keep all the awards that a child has won throughout the year. Children can place the patch, medal and pins all in this beautiful box for display or as a keepsake.

Award Medals – Olympian bronze, silver, and gold medals are available to reward children for being faithful throughout the year. These are beautiful medals inscribed with the date and name of the Olympian on the back.

Trophies – Children love getting trophies. If a child is faithful in earning a gold medal for six years they can earn the Steadfast trophy. There is also a trophy for two and four years of faithfully earning gold medals.

Membership is easy and when children earn it, they will be recognized in front of the entire Olympian club and receive a membership patch.

Requirements:

    1. Attend club for three weeks.

    2. Recite the following pledges:

Know the Uganda National Anthem

Christian Flag
– I pledge allegiance to the Christian flag and to the Savior for whose Kingdom it stands; One Savior, crucified, risen and coming again, with life and liberty for all who believe.

Bible – I pledge allegiance to the Bible, God’s Holy Word. I will make it a Lamp unto my feet and a Light unto my path. I will hide it’s words in my heart that I might not sin against God.

Church – I pledge allegiance to my Church, and to my Lord upon whom it is built. I will love my Pastor and all the members; and will faithfully support my church with my attendance, money, service and prayers.

    3. Recite the Olympian motto: I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14

    4. Recite the Olympian song: Sometimes, Jesus, it is hard to follow You, for I want to do what I want to do. But when the Devil temps me to stray, Oh this is what I’ll say . . .

I’ll raise my torch up to the sky. I’ll fly my banner way up high. I’ll follow Jesus right behind. I will run the race.

I’ll be a Champion for my Lord, I’ll conquer temptation with His Word. I’ll challenge all those who have never known His grace, to accept God’s gift by faith.

A typical Olympian club meeting starts as soon as children arrive at church. They’re greeted by a   friendly face that directs them to the Check-In table. There they will have their attendance for that night recorded and they’ll tell how many Quiet Times they did for the previous week. They then move to         the Listening Post to recite any verses they may have learned during the previous week.

Once everyone has checked-in, all of the students meet as a group for announcements, a few songs, and the recitation of pledges. A review of the previous week’s lesson is conducted and children are given  the chance to answer questions and win prizes.

The lesson for the current week is then presented by dynamic and lively teachers. Children then break into separate groups for Personal Training time where, with their PT Coach, they review the current lesson, take prayer requests and talk about any questions they may have concerning their Quiet Time from the week before.

Students then assemble for snack and a high-energy game time that we call the Big O-vent!

Then, almost as quickly as it began, club meeting is over and kids can’t wait to share what they’ve     learned and are excited to come back the following week.
